ActionAid UK received a record-high income from legacies last year, new figures show.
The charity’s latest accounts, for the year to the end of December 2025, show its legacy income was £4.5m, compared with the £3.5m recorded in 2024.
It helped the charity record a slight increase in annual income from £46.1m in 2024 to £47.6m last year.
“As in previous years, the majority of our income, 72 per cent (2024: 74 per cent), came from committed giving, donations and legacies, with income increasing slightly on the previous year from £31.7m in 2024 to £31.8m in 2025,” the report says.
The charity’s overall costs remained largely unchanged at £48.7m in 2025 compared with £48.3m in 2024.
“[This was] driven by a combination of lower staff costs following the cost-reduction exercise in 2024 and a reduction in London office rental costs, causing a £1m decrease overall in support costs from 2024,” the report says.
ActionAid UK’s support and governance costs are allocated between fundraising and charitable activities based on staff headcount in each area, the accounts say.
Staff numbers decreased slightly, dropping from 193 in 2024 to 189 in 2025.
The charity’s redundancy and termination costs also fell significantly to £15,132 in 2025, compared with £326,488 in 2024 when ActionAid UK conducted a cost-reduction exercise.
