Both Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be delighted that Prince George will follow in his father’s footsteps and attend Eton in September.
Kensington Palace confirmed the news of George’s enrollment earlier this week. According to an insider, the young royal received “no special treatment” and had to take the school’s entrance exam before being offered a spot at the prestigious school.
“Catherine and William are so pleased George is going to Eton and George is over the moon,” a source with close connections to the family tells Vanity Fair. “He has been to see the school more than once and loved it. He was very chuffed to be offered a place and is excited about getting fitted for a new uniform. William and Catherine love the fact that George won’t be too far from home but can also be a boarder and fully immerse himself in school life. He had to sit the exams just like every other applicant, and he is very proud to be starting in September.”
The Wales family plans to spend most of the summer holiday in Norfolk after George finishes school in early July. On July 22, the prince will celebrate his 13th birthday, an occasion the family will mark with a party for family and friends, according to royals expert Charlotte Griffiths.
“There will be a leavers party when George leaves Lambrook, for all the pupils who are leaving the school, and I expect they will go because William and Catherine are quite involved with the school. There will also be a birthday celebration for some of his close school friends. It’s going to be an exciting month for George,” Griffiths shares.
