The chief executives of Cancer Research UK and Crisis will join the chair of the Charity Commission and the head of the Fundraising Regulator on the programme for Third Sector’s annual conference next week.
The event, which will be held at 1 Wimpole Street in central London on 23 and 24 June, will explore how the voluntary sector can strengthen its resilience in a febrile environment.
The first day of the conference will feature a plenary discussion of how charities can navigate hostile media environments, featuring Simon Blake, chief executive of Stonewall; Fadi Itani, chief of the Muslim Charities Forum; and Nadine Tunasi, head of survivor activism at Freedom From Torture.
In an afternoon address, Matt Downie of Crisis will challenge delegates to consider whether different approaches to their models, partnerships and mindset could re-energise their approach to doing good as the sector is buffeted by operational headwinds.
Dame Julia Unwin, chair of the Charity Commission, will deliver the opening plenary session of the second day, with a speech that outlines the role of the regulator in steering the sector through uncertainty.
Other speakers include Shabby Amini, director of fundraising and marketing for Medical Aid for Palestinians, and Gerald Oppenheim, chief executive of the Fundraising Regulator.
Also speaking are Sanjiv Lingayah, director of Reframing Race; Lindsay MacDonald, chief executive of Magic Breakfast; and Yeme Onoabhage, chief executive of Board Racial Diversity UK.
The event will be divided into thematic streams for delegates to choose from, spanning fundraising, leadership, finance and governance.
A limited number of final release tickets remain available to purchase, with prices adjusted for small and medium-sized charities.
