St Peter’s Hospice has appointed Susan Hamilton (pictured) as its chief executive, following the retirement of its former leader Frank Noble.

Hamilton takes up the role at the Bristol-based charity as an experienced healthcare professional with a career spanning more than 20 years in the sector.

Prior to joining St Peter’s Hospice, Hamilton was director of public health at North Northamptonshire Council.

Hamilton also sits on the boards of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston, and Taff Housing as a non-executive director.

The charity said Hamilton will lead its “crucial work caring for adults with incurable diseases, as well as supporting family members and loved ones through bereavement”.

Hamilton said: “Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about improving the quality of care and reducing health inequalities, working closely with local communities and organisations.

“It’s a privilege to be able to continue this work at St Peter’s Hospice and I look forward to leading this exceptional charity.”

Helen Morgan, chair of St Peter’s Hospice’s board of trustees, said the charity was delighted to welcome Hamilton into the role.

Morgan said: “Susan’s extensive career in the healthcare and charity sectors means she is perfectly placed to lead our exceptional teams, help us navigate the challenges ahead and ensure we continue to provide the excellent care the Hospice is known for.”

Noble leaves St Peter’s Hospice following five years as the charity’s chief executive, with previous roles as a council member at The Royal Engineers Officers’ Widows Society and a trustee at The Samaritan Fund.
