Mike Pence Forgoes Mask During Mayo Clinic Tour Because F–k You, That’s Why

Pop Culture

According to a Mayo Clinic spokesperson, Pence and his team were briefed about the mask policy ahead of time and were offered masks upon arrival. Even if the facility hadn’t thought to give the V.P. a heads-up, he probably should’ve known to wear one given that the U.S. federal government started advising people nearly a month ago to cover their damn faces in public.

Asked about his decision to violate the clinic’s rule and set a bad example to boot, Pence huffily told reporters, “As vice president of the United States I’m tested for the coronavirus on a regular basis, and everyone who is around me is tested for the coronavirus. And since I don’t have the coronavirus, I thought it’d be a good opportunity for me to be here, to be able to speak to these researchers, these incredible health care personnel, and look them in the eye and say thank you.” In other words, “I didn’t wear a mask because fuck you, that’s why. Now, who’s got a communal bottle of water I can take a swig from, or a used handkerchief I can blow my nose into? Don’t look at me like that, I’m clean.”

Trump threatens to punish states for humane immigration policies

You need bailout money? Sorry, should’ve thought of that before you decided not to break up families and unnecessarily deport people:

Trump on Tuesday suggested that state and local bailout money from the federal government could hinge on whether the immigration policies of the individual governments seeking relief align with Trump administration priorities. From skyrocketing health care expenses to the costs of an unprecedented economic shutdown, the coronavirus has imperiled state and local budgets across the country, prompting calls for federal relief. During an exchange with reporters on Tuesday, the president suggested he would be open to such a plan, but only for states economically impacted by coronavirus, not for problems “related for mismanagement over a long time.”
