Domestic abuse charity reveals interim chief

The former head of Hospice UK has been appointed interim chief executive of the domestic abuse charity SafeLives.

Tracey Bleakley succeeds Ellen Miller, who stepped down for personal reasons last month following the death of her husband last year.

Bleakley was most recently co-chair of the National Palliative Care Programme Board at NHS England, a role she held since February last year.

She previously spent six years as chief executive of the umbrella body Hospice UK after holding the top job at the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners.

She has also held senior NHS leadership roles including chief executive of NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board.

“I’ve long admired the SafeLives approach since first coming across the organisation during my time working in policing, so I’m thrilled to be joining the charity,” said Bleakley.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting colleagues and supporting the team to continue this incredibly important work, helping more families to be safer, sooner.”
