Some celebrity feuds fizzle out, but this one just got a sequel. Chet Hanks walked right up to Eric André at ComplexCon in Los Angeles in early October 2026, and the tense run-in, which Chet filmed and shared on Instagram, has fans digging up a beef that started years ago. The heated moment even dragged Chet’s famous dad, Tom Hanks, back into the conversation.
Keep reading to find out what sparked the showdown, how their rivalry began and what each of them has said.
Why Did Chet Hanks Confront Eric André?
Chet approached Eric at the streetwear convention to call him out over comments the comedian made about him back in 2023, Consequence reported. Security eventually stepped between them, and Eric fired off a parting remark about Chet’s dad as he walked away.
The exchange was caught on video, TMZ reported, and Chet posted the clip to Instagram himself. In his caption, he sarcastically poked fun at Eric’s brand of humor before signing off by saying it was great running into him. Eric, for his part, looked unbothered in the footage, asking Chet what he was talking about before shrugging and walking off.
How Did Chet Hanks & Eric André’s Feud Start?
The bad blood dates back to 2023, when Chet appeared on season 6 of The Eric Andre Show. Eric later claimed Chet rode a motorcycle inside the studio and put the crew in danger, according to Mandatory.
Chet pushed back at the time, saying he was only matching the show’s chaotic energy. The two traded jabs online throughout March 2023, and neither one ever seemed ready to let it go.
What Did Eric André Say About Tom Hanks?
Eric has made Chet’s famous family part of the joke more than once. During their earlier back-and-forth, he compared Chet to his older half brother, Colin Hanks, as Consequence recalled:
“How did Colin Hanks come out so good and Chet Hanks come out so bad?”
Eric also called Chet a liar and jokingly demanded a DNA test to prove Tom is really his father. At ComplexCon, he aimed his parting shot at Tom once again, which made sure the Hanks family stayed at the center of the story.
What’s Next for Chet Hanks & Eric André?
Both stars have plenty going on beyond the feud. Chet plays Travis Bugg on Netflix’s Running Point and will next appear in the thriller Lone Wolf, while Eric is set to play announcer Don Sauvage in the new Street Fighter movie, Mandatory noted. Whether this latest round settles their score or opens a brand-new chapter, fans clearly can’t look away.
