Imran Sanaullah, who previously led two foundations in parallel, has taken the helm at Charity Digital.
He succeeds Jonathan Chevallier, who left in January 2025 to pursue other career interests, the charity said.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Chevallier is working as a consultant with a focus on business and digital strategy, sales and marketing.
Sanaullah joined Charity Digital, which provides digital tools and training for charitable organisations, this week.
He was previously chief executive of the Adam Foundation, a family-founded grantmaker that seeks to strengthen social cohesion, and the Avicenna Foundation, which provides a development programme and scholarships for young people at university.
Sanaullah held both roles at the same time, from May 2024 to September this year.
He is also founder of the civic youth charity the Patchwork Foundation, which he led for nearly seven years between 2016 and 2023, and was appointed MBE in 2019.
Sanaullah said: “Charity Digital has already created something important: a connection between charities and the digital skills, tools and confidence they need to better serve their communities.
“Charity Digital is in a prime position to help charities embrace these changes rather than fall behind, ensuring digital technology serves to benefit people and society.
“I am excited to work with the board, the team and partners in both the charity and digital sectors to ensure that every charity, regardless of its size or starting point, can take advantage of the opportunities that digital technology and Al offer.”
Claire Tavernier, chair of Charity Digital, said of Sanaullah: “His experience of building and leading purpose-driven organisations, together with his understanding of civic life, philanthropy and digital transformation, brings exactly the experience we need for Charity Digital’s next chapter.”
Tavernier said interim chief executive Maria Timon Samra had provided “outstanding leadership” over the previous year.
