Vicky Foxcroft has been confirmed as the new charities minister.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has updated its website with the new ministerial responsibilities, almost two months after the reshuffle began.
Stephanie Peacock, who had been the charities minister since the 2024 general election, remains at the DCMS but has had her previously long list of responsibilities reduced.
Peacock has been given the brief for sport, tourism, place and digital government.
Foxcroft, who has been the MP for Lewisham North since the constituency shake-up in 2024 and before that had been the MP for Lewisham Deptford since 2015, will hold responsibility for youth, gambling, digital inclusion, civil society and loneliness.
She was appointed as a minister at the DCMS on 22 July as part of new Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s reshuffle but it has taken almost two months for her brief to be confirmed.
Foxcroft, who previously served as a government whip, was the shadow charities minister between June 2019 and April 2020, when she became the shadow minister for disabled people.
She worked for the trade union Unite before entering parliament.
According to the Charity Commission website, Foxcroft has been chair for almost 10 years of Deptford First, a small charity that promotes cohesion and helps local people.
The DCMS website shows that Baroness Ruth Mackenzie has been given responsibility for arts and museums while Baroness Twycross will hold the heritage brief.
