Charities based in London are being offered free training on how to make their services more accessible and inclusive.
The Centre for Accessible Environments, a consultancy owned by the social housing provider Habinteg, is inviting charities to take part in its London Inclusive Communities programme.
The scheme aims to help third sector organisations in the capital that need inclusive design advice and support but lack the budget for professional help.
The CAE said the service was launched in response to growing pressure facing voluntary and community organisations to become more inclusive.
It said many organisations operated from inaccessible buildings and lacked the resources or expertise to address barriers to participation for disabled people and other under-served groups.
The programme, which has been funded by the City Bridge Foundation, includes a free-to-attend webinar series that offers tips for developing inclusive spaces and covers topics including disability awareness and inclusion, accessible office spaces, and design and neurodiversity.
It also offers access audits of buildings and design and technical advice to eligible organisations.
To qualify for support, organisations must be based in London; be a registered charity, voluntary organisation or community interest company; own or lease their building; and provide community-based services.
The CAE said priority would be given to organisations with limited financial capacity, including those with an annual income of less than £1m.
Sacha Rose, chief funding director at the City Bridge Foundation, said: “Many charities want to be more inclusive but lack the resources to access specialist advice.
“London Inclusive Communities will help remove those barriers, supporting organisations to make their spaces more welcoming and usable for all Londoners.”
