Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Photos Are Here — Let the Speculation Begin!

Yeah, yeah. I know. I’m very late to this party.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 photos have dropped, and while I know as much as the next guy about what’s ahead, it doesn’t stop me from having some thoughts.

I’m sure you do, too, so let’s take a look at the photos and start making assumptions!

And why shouldn’t it?

The second season of Dexter: Resurrection finds Dexter Morgan (Michael Hall) caught between two killers — one notorious and the other terrorizing New York in ways no one ever anticipated — all while battling his greatest enemy yet: a mid-life crisis. 

We can bet that the people he’s chosen to surround himself with these days are part of the problem. 

How do we know? Well, Harrison (Jack Alcott) continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son face their darkest chapter.

How much darker can you get than your wife and mother being murdered on the bathroom floor and all of the subsequent things they’ve experienced and witnessed together since? 

The photos say it all.

Harrison has joined the family business, true to his word. 

That kid was already torn in too many directions with the knowledge of his father’s proclivities, but it will be even harder while wearing a badge.

There’s a reason Dexter never told Debra about his vengeful side.

But then again, kids these days love a superhero.

And what is Dexter, really, other than a superhero hell-bent on taking down the baddies who slip through the fingers of law enforcement?

Sure, he’s had other reasons for taking someone out; his code isn’t absolute. But it is as good as the code of any law enforcement officer.

Alongside Hall and Alsott, Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar will also be returning.

That means that, yes, it’s likely that killing Batista did nothing to stop the people he once worked with from hunting him down. 

With Harrington bumped to season regular, it’s a good bet Quinn will be on the case again. He was still working in Miami, so it will be interesting to see how he transitions to New York.

And did we expect Harry to leave Dexter’s side? Hell no!

And if one apparition isn’t enough, it seems like Dex will be visited by more ghosts of seasons past.

How else could Krysten Ritter return? Mia was killed while incarcerated during Dexter: Resurrection Season 1. 

Ordinarily, there’s no coming back from that. The spirits are as good as alive on this show!

Charley’s exit was picture perfect, but that’s not stopping her from canoodling with Dexter at an outdoor cafe.

Now, they did find some common ground after Leon Prater was taken out of the equation. And for all we know, he could be comforting her after the loss of her mother.

After all, her mother wasn’t healthy, and losing her would be the perfect reason to return to New York. 

Honestly, she’d be a great partner for Dex, both professionally and personally.

Thurman’s name has suspiciously risen on the IMDB page to second behind Hall’s, so maybe she’s in it for the long haul.

I could live with that.

Frick and Frack, I mean Detectives Claudette Wallace and Melvin Oliva, are still on the case, as well.

Will they provide comic relief in addition to exasperation for Dexter and Harrison? Will Claudette put on her dancing shoes?

Is she still strutting her stuff to the Bee Gees?

We can only hope.

Dan Stevens, Bokeem Woodbine, Nona Parker Johnson, and Brian Cox join season two in series regular roles. 

That’s a lot more season regulars, and the actors involved are always filling big shoes.

I just rewatched Manhunter last weekend, in which Brian Cox played Hannibal Lecter, and I’m not ashamed to say that I’d love to see him take on another serial killer.

He barely had anything to do in that movie, so maybe it’s time to flex a little. 

Hell, he got his feet wet on Succession with a character who felt like he was always just a beat away from taking someone out with more than words.

And it’s not a surprise that Dexter is still renting from Blessing. 

If we learned anything about Dexter during the original series, it’s that he finds his place and he stays there.

He never could let go of the fabulous yet tiny waterside apartment he had, even after marrying Rita.

I like that about Dexter. For as topsy-turvy as his life is in all other aspects, it makes perfect sense that he would need somewhere familiar to hang his hat.

This homebody feels that in her soul!

Despite all this Dexter goodness, we still don’t have a premiere date for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. But it can’t be that far off.

The first season was already underway at this time last year, and Paramount+ is one of the best at keeping audience wait times to a minimum.

So, what do we have in the meantime? A little something is coming our way.

The third season of Dexter’s Kill Room on the Dexter Official YouTube Channel premieres August 6 at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET, with new episodes every Thursday, exclusively on YouTube.

Franchise legends Erik King and Julie Benz will join Dexter: Resurrection cast members, including Krysten Ritter and Eric Stonestreet, to revisit the most iconic scenes from the Dexter universe. 

It’s not exactly what I want, but it’s better than a sharp stick in the eye!

But if anyone could make a sharp stick in the eye worth the effort, it would be Dexter Morgan. Go figure.
