The cancer charity Walk the Walk has welcomed David Wright as chief executive.
Wright, who was a trustee of the charity for three years and was appointed chair last year, succeeds founder Nina Barough, who stepped down at the end of 2026 after nearly 30 years.
Wright has more than 30 years’ experience in property and facilities management.
He has held senior roles at the computing firm Dell and the logistic company DX and was managing director of the Director Group consultancy for almost four years until his retirement in 2021.
He joined the Walk the Walk board in 2023 before becoming chair in September last year. He has stepped down from this role to become chief executive, which he took up in May.
Wright said it was an honour to become chief executive of the charity.
“Having served as both trustee and chair, I’ve seen first-hand the passion, dedication and impact of this charity,” he said.
“I am excited to work alongside our team, supporters and partners to build on its extraordinary legacy. Together, we will continue to raise vital funds, drive awareness and inspire more people to walk, get active and make a meaningful difference to the lives of people living with cancer and their families.”
