Shakira and FIFA Announce 0,000 for Venezuela Earthquake Relief

Shakira is the latest superstar musician to contribute to the ongoing Venezuela earthquake relief efforts.

In a new announcement video (watch below), the Colombian pop star said that $500,000 from the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund will be used to support education intervention for thousands of children affected by the recent tragic earthquakes. Shakira has not only spent years serving on the board of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, but is also the halftime performer at the upcoming FIFA World Cup Final 2026.

In the video, the singer also rallied football fans everywhere to contribute to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which is raising $100 million to provide better educational opportunities and various other resources for students the world over.

In addition to Shakira’s campaigning, a number of other celebrities are involved in the fundraising efforts. That includes Hugh Jackman, John Legend, Elyanna, Kat Graham, Dhar Mann, and former PM of Ireland Leo Varadkar. Their series of videos was also accompanied by an open letter from an international coalition of former heads of state, global leaders, and philanthropists seeking aid and benefits to ensure that “no child is left on the sidelines.”

Other musicians who have lent a hand to Venezuela in recent weeks include Metallica (with members donating $100,000 through their All Within My Hands Foundation) and Rush (who released a special benefit t-shirt to support victims).

Back in May, Shakira announced that she’d be donating 100% percent of profits from “Dai Dai,” the World Cup’s official anthem, to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. It’s Shakira’s fourth official FIFA World Cup anthem (and first since 2014).

More than 2,600 people have been confirmed dead as a result of a pair of earthquakes that hit Venezuela on June 24th, with more than 60,000 still reported missing. Among the deceased were all four members of the rising Venezuelan nu-metal band Van Der Dijs.

The FIFA World Cup Final 2026 is set for Sunday, July 19th at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex.

Shakira is currently amid a run of US stadium shows, the latest leg of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.” Look for tickets here.
