A fertility health charity has begun the process of a managed closure and has ceased its direct support services.
Fertility Network UK, which provides support and advice for patients facing fertility challenges, said it was in the process of winding down.
The charity’s direct support services ceased last week and FNUK said its focus was closing in an “orderly and responsible way”.
Fertility Network UK recorded an income of £496,287, costs of £454,802 and had 21 employees according to its latest accounts, for the year to the end of March 2025.
“We know this news will be difficult for many people who have used, supported or worked with the charity,” it said in a statement.
“Fertility Network UK has been proud to support people affected by fertility issues, and we are grateful to our staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, funders and partners for their dedication.
“Existing support groups will be contacted directly with further information where relevant.”
The charity’s trustees were committed to ensuring the closure is “handled with care”, FNUK said.
“Where possible, we are exploring whether specific projects may transfer to suitable successor organisations,” the charity said.
“Any transfer would depend on appropriate approvals, due diligence and staff consultation.”
The charity has listed the Wales Fertility Support Network, the Northern Ireland Fertility Support Service and Fertility in the Workplace as possible successor organisations.
Fertility Network UK has been contacted for more details on the circumstances surrounding its closure, including how many staff are at risk of redundancy.
