While Titus Welliver is best known for his iconic portrayal of Harry Bosch in the Bosch franchise, the tides are turning for the quintessential crime drama star as new projects are on the horizon. Welliver, who’s been working consistently throughout the past 30 years, has grown a massive following since his role on Bosch began in 2014. While he’d appeared in other projects prior to the Prime Video original series, his turn as the main character from the Michael Connelly book series catapulted him into a whole new stratosphere of popularity.
With new fans and a franchise built around him, Welliver took care of Bosch in careful, meticulous way. He’s been open about his love for Connelly’s stories, the character and his journey, and his willingness to do more with Bosch in the future. Unfortunately, Prime Video hasn’t announced anything new for Welliver’s version of Bosch, and is currently working on a prequel to the successful series, Bosch: Start Of Watch, starring Cameron Monaghan. With Welliver free and clear to work on new projects, the spotlight has been on the actor’s next moves.
With Welliver guest starring in an acclaimed crime drama, another new project has come into the mix for the former Bosch star, which should be an exciting update for fans of his previous work.
Titus Welliver’s TV Roles Keep Getting Better Following His Time As Harry Bosch
After his time as Bosch came to an end in 2025, it wasn’t clear what Welliver would do next. While he was a lock to appear on the next series in the Bosch franchise, the Maggie Q led Ballard, Welliver’s plate was clear, and new opportunities were on the horizon. His next role was a surprise, as Welliver stepped into the shoes of someone far different than Bosch. Although Welliver’s been part of many a TV project in the past, it was exciting to see him take on a villainous role in Dark Winds season 4 after Bosch: Legacy’s end.
As the big bad of Dark Winds season 4, Dominic McNair, Welliver got to play an entirely different character than what viewers were used to seeing from him. McNair, a crime boss who’s involved in trafficking drugs and stolen goods, comes into conflict with the police during the season, which results in him facing a murder charge. While McNair’s future is unclear on Dark Winds, as he’s challenging the charge, watching Welliver play with new material has been a fascinating turn for the actor. Moving forward, Welliver has even more nuanced work on his plate.
Welliver’s next announced projects include joining The Night Agent season 4, which will put him into a whole new universe. While it’s not clear who Welliver will play on the Netflix series, moving into a new series will be an exciting venture for the actor. Welliver has also been cast in the new series The Westies, following the real life story of an ’80s Irish-American gang operating in New York City. Joined by J. K. Simmons on the project, The Westies will see Welliver as a conflicted cop struggling between his job and his loyalty to his people.
Will Titus Welliver Return To The Bosch Franchise?
Although Bosch: Legacy wasn’t meant to be an endpoint, it brought Bosch’s story to a close. Welliver has reprised the character on Ballard, and is likely to continue to do so, but it doesn’t necessarily seem likely that Bosch will return on a series of his own. While viewers would definitely tune into another Bosch-led series, it doesn’t seem like something that will be in the cards for Welliver with so much on his plate in the coming year.
Though it’s possible that Welliver could return to the character for a limited series or something of the like, Bosch seems to be a chapter that’s closed for the time being. Welliver himself has praised Bosch and shared how much he enjoyed working on the series, though, which makes it feel like the door is open for a future project where he returns as the lead. For now, seeing Bosch when he’s on Ballard will have to be enough for those who enjoy the iconic Connelly character.
