A mental-health charity worker was found dead in her home in Swindon on Friday evening, with a 13-year-old girl having been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Sarah Forrester, aged 55 and from Swindon, was not breathing when police officers attended her home in Baydon Close, Moredon, after receiving a report of disorder at the premises at about 7pm.
Forrester, who worked at the mental-health charity The Kelly Foundation, was declared dead at the scene, Wiltshire Police said. The police said there were no other reported injuries.
A 13-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident, but has since been bailed, police said, adding that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Forrester’s death.
There remains a heightened police presence in the area while enquiries are carried out.
Guy Elkins, detective chief superintendent, said: “Our thoughts are with Sarah’s friends and family at this awful time.
“An investigation into her death is being led by our major crime investigation team and local residents will continue to see increased policing activity in the area.
“We continue to urge people not to speculate on the incident. We’d encourage anyone with concerns to speak with their local Neighbourhood Policing Team, either by emailing or approaching our officers in person.”
Forrester worked as a counsellor for The Kelly Foundation, a Swindon-based charity that provides support for people with severe anxiety, depression and other mental-health issues.
The foundation was set up in memory of Kelly Jobanputra, a BBC Radio 6 music producer and former BBC Radio Wiltshire presenter who took her own life in 2019.
In a statement, The Kelly Foundation said: “Everyone at The Kelly Foundation is heartbroken at the sudden loss of our lovely Sarah.
“She was completely committed to the charity and devoted to her two young children.
“Sarah was pivotal in the work that we do here at the Kelly Foundation and her loss is a hugely traumatic event, not just for us and her colleagues but more especially for her children and family.
“Sarah was an incredible person, kind, thoughtful, considerate, caring and funny and she embodied everything that we hope our charity is and can be.
“She enjoyed her role with us and we all loved working with her. She will be truly, truly missed.”
