Shooting Star Children’s Hospices has appointed Paul Farthing as its chief executive.
Farthing, previously director of income generation and communications at The Children’s Trust, has today succeeded Nigel Harding, who retired earlier this month after three years in the role.
Before joining The Children’s Trust in 2018, Farthing held top fundraising roles at Age UK, the NSPCC and the animal conservation charity the Aspinall Foundation.
Shooting Star supports hundreds of babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, each year through its centres in Hampton, south-west London, and Guildford, Surrey.
Andrew Coppel, chair of the charity, said Farthing had a “wealth of experience and knowledge of the sector, and we are looking forward to working with him to help shape the charity’s future and continue to provide the vital care services to the families we support”.
Farthing said the charity had an excellent reputation for the quality of the support it provides to children and their families.
“Our opportunity now is to reach out and help more children and families through very challenging times,” he said.
