Ivanka and Jared Reportedly Bought a $30 Million “Billionaire’s Bunker” Property, as One Does

Fairly early on in his time in office, Donald Trump seemingly realized that most of New York City—the place he was born, raised, and lived until moving to the White House—absolutely despises him. Oh sure, Staten Island would be happy to have him, but on the Upper East Side and wherever else you’ll find the very rich and very famous, i.e. the people whose approval the president desperately craves, he’s persona non grata. Hence, his decision to rarely return to the city when he had the chance, to hang it out to dry during the pandemic, and to label it, among other things an “anarchist jurisdiction” and a “ghost town.” And though his daughter and son-in-law have not (yet) publicly lashed out at their hometown, they, too, have apparently read the writing on the wall re: New Yorkers hating their guts or, more to the point, that no self-respecting one wants to be caught dead within a city block of them.

At least, that’s what their recent eight-figure real estate purchase seems to suggest:

After four years in Washington, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner could be heading south to the Sunshine State, with the couple reportedly buying a $30 million property in an area dubbed “Billionaire’s Bunker.“ President Trump’s 39-year-old daughter, a White House senior adviser, and her husband, also a top adviser, are poised to close soon on a plot of land on Florida’s Indian Creek Island, Page Six reported Monday…. The listing boasts that the Miami island is “one of the most exclusive and private neighborhoods in the world with its private country club and golf course, police force, and 24/7 armed boat patrol.”

Ivanka Trump and Kushner moved from New York City to Washington’s Kalorama neighborhood with their three young children in 2017 after they both joined her father’s administration. The pair still owns their Park Avenue apartment, according to Page Six.

In addition to the new Florida digs, which are conveniently located roughly 60 miles from Mar-a-Lago, where Trump is expected to live after leaving the White House, Javanka are reportedly expanding their “cottage” by the grounds of Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. As a former acquaintance of the couple told my colleague Emily Jane Fox last month, “They will probably be welcomed by real estate types and…Palm Beach families that read about themselves in Quest magazine but don’t matter.”

In the meantime, the first daughter is hard at work attempting to rehab her image on the way out the door, which at this point she‘s hopefully doing from quarantine:
