Comic Relief has appointed Fatima Ribeiro as its next director of fundraising and creative.

Ribeiro, who is head of marketing and creative at Islamic Relief UK, is due to take up her new role next week.

She has spent the past five years at Islamic Relief in a range of roles, including leading the charity’s rebrand in 2017 and managing its fundraising and emergency campaigns.

Before joining Islamic Relief, Ribeiro was corporate partnerships manager at Fitzrovia Youth in Action, which supports disadvantaged young people.

She succeeds Shabby Amini, who has spent the past year in the role on an interim basis.

Ribeiro said: “Comic Relief is one of the most recognisable charities in the country and it holds a special place in many people’s hearts.

“I am incredibly excited to be joining the organisation during this exciting time and I can’t wait to get started on the Red Nose Day campaign and to help this amazing brand reach new heights.”

Ruth Davison, interim chief executive of Comic Relief, said Ribeiro would be “an absolute asset” and brought an enormous array of fundraising expertise and creative talent.

“She has worked across grassroots charities, international funders and faith-based organisations, and her immense skills base and vision will play an integral role in our campaigns.”
