How to Get Better Skin: The Top Grooming Tips to Know

Did you know that the average adult’s skin, if stretched out, spans a whopping 21 square feet! It is the body’s largest organ, and as such, it should be a high priority for us to take care of it.

Skin is often one of the first things that other people notice about us. So if you want to put your best face forward, you need to learn how to get better skin.

Let’s take a look at the top beauty secrets for keeping your skin gorgeous.

  1. Drink Water

Properly hydrated skin gives it that youthful, wrinkle-free glow that we all crave so much. Moisturizing products are great to help with this, but often they are best at locking in moisture that you need to get from somewhere.

Drink plenty of water to give your skin the moisture it needs.

Water also helps clear toxins from your skin and pores. This cuts down on skin problems like acne and even psoriasis or eczema.

  1. Cleanse

Drinking water helps clean the skin from the inside, but you need to remove contaminants from the outside as well.

Aim for washing your face twice a day and make sure to choose a cleanser suitable for your skin type. For example, a cream cleanser is great for dry or sensitive skin, while a foaming cleanser is a better option for oily skin.

Take a shower once a day in lukewarm water and limit it to 15 minutes or less. Surprisingly, too much water exposure can dry out your skin.

  1. Moisturize

After showering is the ideal time to moisturize your skin. Again, choose a moisturizer that is ideal for your skin type.

Keep in mind that skincare products vary widely and no one product is one-size-fits-all. For example, skin care for black man with oily skin is quite different than skin care for a lily-white redhead with dry skin.

Sometimes those with oily skin shy away from using moisturizer. However, moisturizing is important even for them.

Not using moisturizer can actually make the problem worse. The skin can go into “drought” mode and start overproducing oil even more.

  1. Wash Your Pillowcase

Every night when you go to sleep, your skin begins a process of repairing itself. Dead cells are released and end up on your pillowcase. Bacteria and other nasty stuff usually hitch a ride as well.

If you don’t wash your pillowcase often, all that deliciousness will end up right back on your face. It could even lead to acne and other unsightly skin problems.

So, try to wash your pillowcase at least once a week. Flip it over halfway through to get the cleanest side for as long as possible.

Learning How to Get Better Skin Isn’t Hard

While skincare routines can get quite complicated, a basic one is really all you need. If you have a special type of skin, learning how to get better skin can be a little more complicated, but sill not impossible.

Experiment and find out what works for you!
