Wonder Woman 1984’s Gal Gadot Previews How Diana Meets Pedro Pascal’s Max Lord

Movies

The first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 came out last weekend and introduced The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal’s new character, Maxwell Lord. Max Lord is a DC Comics character, like Diana Prince, and apparently they have quite an interesting first meeting. Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot previewed Diana’s dynamic with Max during the CCXP discussion in Brazil:

Who is Max Lord? Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins described him, and added a little warning/tease about him:

In the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer, we hear Max Lord’s voice coming through one of his infomercials:

Warner Bros.’s synopsis for the Wonder Woman sequel notes the movie finds our hero facing two new foes in Max Lord and The Cheetah. Kristen Wiig plays The Cheetah — and Patty Jenkins explained why she cast the actress who is still most famous for her comedy. Cheetah at least starts the movie as archaeologist Barbara Ann Minerva, who befriends Diana. The trailer even shows a little conversation they have about falling in love.

Speaking of love, the million dollar question of Wonder Woman 1984 is how does Chris Pine return as Steve Trevor after the events of the first movie? Will Max Lord play a role in what happens? His little infomercial teases life can be better, all you need is to want it. What does Diana Prince want? To have Steve back, I would imagine. And world peace, of course.

Re-watch the first trailer here for another look at Diana, Max, Barbara, and company:

A new era of wonder begins on June 5, 2020 when WW84 opens in theaters. Keep up with everything heading to the big screen next year with our 2020 movie release date schedule.
