IoF launches confidential sexual harassment helpline

The Institute of Fundraising has launched a new confidential helpline that fundraisers can use to report sexual harassment.

The helpline, which was launched today, will provide free confidential support and advice to complainants who want to report harassment by an IoF member or which took place at an IoF event.

The helpline is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, a spokeswoman for the IoF said.

The spokeswoman said the HR consultancy Tell Jane would run the helpline for a flat monthly fee and would liaise with the IoF when required, such as when filing confidential complaints on behalf of individuals.

She was unable to confirm how much Tell Jane would be paid, but said the fee would be revised depending on how much the helpline was used.

Isobel Michael, trustee of the IoF, said: “It’s very positive that we have worked with Tell Jane to enable confidential reporting for anyone who has experienced sexual harassment by a member of the IoF or at an IoF event.

“I hope the helpline will help to build trust in the reporting process and encourage fundraisers who have experienced sexual harassment to feel that they can report concerns directly to the IoF or confidentially to Tell Jane.”

The helpline is available at 0800 689 0843.
