The chief executive of the cultural charity OnFife is to step down to take up the top job at a conservation charity.
Heather Stuart will leave in October to join the Mount Stuart Trust, the charity that looks after Mount Stuart House and Gardens on the Isle of Bute.
She was the first chief executive of OnFife, which was established in 2012 by Fife Council to run libraries, museums, galleries and other cultural activities on behalf of the local authority.
Stuart said it was not an easy decision to leave. “I believe passionately in the importance of what OnFife does and it’s particularly difficult to leave the organisation I set up as its first chief executive,” she said.
“It’s been a privilege to lead OnFife, working with so many dedicated and committed people.
“There’s never an ideal time to leave a role. However, sometimes a personal opportunity comes up that shouldn’t be missed. It’s also important to allow room for different ideas and perspectives to come into organisations.”
Gary Love, chair of OnFife, said: “Heather has been an outstanding, forward-thinking chief executive and has steered OnFife through many challenges over the years.
“She leaves the organisation in a strong place to build on its many successes.”
