Youth counselling charity appoints lone chief

The youth counselling charity TIC+ has appointed Claire Power-Browne as sole chief executive after six years co-leading the organisation.

Power-Browne, who has been director of operations at the charity since 2017, has led it alongside Judith Bell, chief clinical officer.

But the charity, which provides counselling services to young people aged nine to 21 in the Gloucestershire area, said Power-Browne had been appointed chief executive, with Bell remaining part of the senior leadership team.

Power-Browne, a former overseas programme manager at food poverty charity The Trussell Trust, said she was “thrilled to be given this opportunity”.

She said: “It has been an absolute joy and privilege to co-lead with Judith Bell for so many years and I am enormously thankful that she remains a key part of the senior executive team to help ensure the quality, innovation and care for which TIC+ is known stays at the heart of our work.

“With our 30-year anniversary coming up, we have firmly established TIC+ as an essential support for young people struggling with their mental health in Gloucestershire, and one which we want to grow further.

“I’m excited by our ambitious plans and the opportunity to continue working with our fantastic team toward making our new five-year strategy a reality.”

The charity had an annual income of £2.1m in its latest accounts for the year ending 31 March 2023.

TIC+ said during Power-Browne’s tenure, the charity’s income had “grown significantly from £670,000 to an anticipated £3m turnover in 2024”.

She will take up her new role on 1 August.
