A Christian children’s charity has announced its next chief executive.

Fola Komolafe will join World Vision UK in October after eight years as partner and global lead for international development at the professional services firm Mazars.

Komolafe previously served as the chief executive of Indisys Business Solutions, where she provided strategic direction and philanthropy advice to several large UK Christian charities, and is a former vice-chair of World Vision’s UK board.

She succeeds Mark Sheard, who has been chief executive since February 2020 and is “retiring from a full-time role”, according to Douglas Millican, chair of World Vision.

Komolafe said she had “long supported and admired” World Vision for its impact and commitment to the world’s most vulnerable children.

“I had the privilege of seeing this first-hand in Zambia recently and I was blown away by our integrated approach and the life-changing impact it has had on children, their families and their communities,” she said.

“I feel extremely blessed and honoured to join an organisation uniquely identified by its rich Christian values and widespread global impact at a time when things are changing so quickly around us and becoming even more challenging for many people in lower income countries.

“I look forward with much anticipation to working with staff, supporters and partners in ensuring we keep our promise of overcoming poverty and bringing the fullness of life to the world’s most vulnerable children.”

World Vision UK is an international Christian children’s charity established in 1950. It had an income of £70m in the financial year ending September 2022.

The charity works in almost 100 countries around the world and employs 195 people.
