“Goddess of Pop” Cher might be more well-known for her snaking line of accolades across acting, music and theatre, but a lesser known yet equally impressive venture of hers is her real estate portfolio ranging from hidden, idyllic estates in Hawaii and Florida to swanky, big-city homes in New York and California. While achieving her status as the only artist to have a number-one single on the Billboard charts for six consecutive decades from the 1960s to the 2010s, Cher also gained a reputation in the industry for being one of the world’s most dynamic celebrity home decorators and flippers.

This contemporary Spanish-style estate was purchased and overhauled by Cher in 1993, before being sold just three years later to Barry K. Schwartz, co-founder of Calvin Klein. The mansion is one of 30 estates in the ultra-rich enclave of La Gorce Island. Just off the coast of Miami Beach, this gated community with 24-hour security is home to a host of other notable celebrities like pop-legend Billy Joel and hip-hop artist Lil’ Wayne.

With two-thirds of an acre of manicured grounds dotted with palm trees, 158 feet of unobsctructed frontage to enjoy the island’s pristine coastline and 12,450 square feet of living space, the estate was more than fit to take on the exotic design themes that Cher’s homes are most known for. In line with her love of Moorish architecture, the mansion features a classic tiled roof, Mediterranean-style arched windows all over and mighty iron accents to enclose the private courtyard housing a resort-style pool complex with a fifty-foot swimming pool, a hot tub, a cold plunge, a sun deck, a sauna, a pool house and a cabana bath.

Moving over to the interior, the mansion features an open floor plan to allow for a seamless transition from outdoor to indoor lounging in its many social salons, with floor-to-ceiling windows to bring into the house natural light and the Miami sea breeze. Grand arched front doors lead you into the double-height ceiling entry foyer where you are greeted by a dual grand staircase, acting as a portal of sorts to the rest of the house’s hidden charms.

The brazilian oak flooring is a sensuous pleasure to walk upon as you explore the mansion’s private bar, entertainment lounge, fitness centre, chef’s kitchen and four bedrooms with two privately accessed suites, of which comprise a total of six full bathrooms.

The sleek marble-accented kitchen is anchored by an oversized central island for casual dining and hosting while you cook, connecting to a full bar with complementary marble countertops to take the party to after eating.

Noteworthy is the palatial primary suite which holds in its expanse a sitting room, a statement marble bath, a two-person central shower, a custom wardrobe and a personal terrace which grants its tenant exclusive access to a private top-floor studio.

La Gorce Island is also well connected to the neighbourhood’s La Gorce Country Club as well as some of South Florida’s best beaches. The famous clubs and nightlife of South Beach are also located less than five miles away.
