A charity that has been supporting people since the time of Queen Victoria has appointed a new chief executive.
Sue Freeth has been chosen to lead VSA, the social care charity that operates in Aberdeen and North East Scotland.
Freeth has a 40-year career serving in UK social care charities and held both executive and non-executive positions in small, medium and large service-providing charities in Scotland and the wider UK.
Kevin Shand, chair of the board of trustees for VSA, said: “On behalf of the board of trustees, I am delighted to announce the appointment of chief executive Sue Freeth who joins the VSA family.
“Sue comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the charity sector, having held previous CEO roles for various charities across the UK.
“As the world emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic, the delivery of social care changes, the cost-of-living crisis and societal change, Sue will lead VSA to continue to influence the social care landscape.”
Freeth said: “It is a very proud honour to be appointed chief executive for such an amazing local charity in the North-East of Scotland.
“I am eager to get started and lead the well-established team to deliver the best of care to enable the best of lives to the vulnerable children and adults we support.”
In its most recent annual accounts, for the year ending 31 March 2022, VSA had income of £19.4m and expenditure of £20.2m.
