A French Villa With Views of Monaco Lists for €50 Million

Luxury

The French Riviera is a popular holiday destination for European tourists because of its good climate, pristine beaches, coves, and luxurious appeal. A playground for the rich, the coastal area from Saint Tropez to Menton and including Monaco plays host to several festivals all year round. This includes the Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Yachting Festival, Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco and others.

While there are several top-notch hotels around the French Riviera, nothing beats having your own property. For those looking for an estate along the beautiful riviera, a historic peach-painted villa is on the market with a guide price of €50 million.

The more than 130-year-old building was designed by Danish architect Hans Georg Tersling, who lived and worked in the region for most of his life. His architectural style followed Neoclassical Louis Seize and was inspired by the Italian Renaissance. Among the French and European aristocracies that he had designed included Eugenie de Montijo, the last empress consort of the French, and the Russian Empress Consort.

In total, the French villa spans more than 7,500 square feet with four storeys and is built atop a hill overlooking the sea and neighbouring Monaco. The property features two buildings and an independent studio. The former has an entrance floor dedicated to reception and dining areas while the top floor is where the main bedroom suite is located along with two dressing rooms, bathrooms and terraces. On the floor below is where four other en-suite bedrooms with terraces are found. Access to the pool and spa facilities can be reached via the garden level of the villa. Other amenities such as a sauna, a hammam, a pool house with a summer kitchen and a wine cellar can also be found.

At a separate building, a cottage, is built with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a terrace with an expansive view. Also on the beautiful Mediterranean grounds is an independent studio that covers over an acre of land and is conceptualised by renowned landscape gardener Jean Mus.

“Incredible levels of detail and attention are present throughout this unique residence,” Mathias Debois-Frogé, of Savills French Riviera, said in a statement. “The owner’s determination to remain true to the original build is evident throughout, where both traditional materials and techniques have been applied in order to preserve the timeless quality of the villa.”

The villa is currently listed with Savills.
