Three joint chief executives resign from charity

A charity that supports deaf people has announced that its three joint chief executives have resigned.

The Royal Association for Deaf people said Amanda Casson Webb, Lesley Frearson and Sue Evans will leave at the end of May, after jointly leading the organisation since 2019.

The charity said its board of trustees was in the preliminary stages of exploring a merger with DeafPLUS.

Details about plans for the organisation’s leadership will be announced in the coming months, a Rad spokesperson said.

Casson Webb, Frearson and Evans have worked for the organisation for 15, 22 and 17 years, respectively.

In a joint statement, the outgoing chief executives said: “Rad is a different organisation to the one we each joined. We are proud of what we have all achieved.

“Organisations go through phases; they reinvent and reform, and we feel that the time is now right for us to hand over the reins to a new leader who can follow the board’s vision and achieve its aims.

“We leave Rad in a healthy position, with a strong profile, a reliable income pipeline and a collegiate team.

“We will spend the coming months working with the board to ensure a robust handover and while this has been an incredibly difficult decision, it is the right one for us.”

Tom Mulloy, chair of Rad, said: “The board is committed to ensuring Rad builds on its solid foundations, set by the current joint chief executives.

“There will be opportunities for both entities if the merger goes ahead and we will share any news as soon as practically possible.”
