WaterAid UK’s corporate partnership with the insurance giant Liberty Specialty Markets has ended after raising nearly £900,000 for the charity.
LSM had partnered with WaterAid UK for the last seven years and supported the charity through corporate donations and fundraising efforts by its staff.
This included employees raising money by setting a new world record after they created the longest video chain of people passing a water bottle, the charity said.
Tim Wainwright, chief executive of WaterAid UK, said the charity was “incredibly proud to have partnered with LSM for the past seven years” and thanked the company’s staff for their support, which helped fund WaterAid’s work in Madagascar and Rwanda.
LSM has agreed three-year agreements with two new charity partners, the environmental and aid organisations ShelterBox and Cool Earth, which were chosen through a staff vote.
Sanj Srikanthan, chief executive of ShelterBox, said that there was “a compelling alignment” between the company and the charity, through “putting communities first and listening to people’s needs to personalise how we respond to events that have devastated lives they have worked so hard to build”.
