Located within the historic Pierre Hotel and with an expansive view of Central Park is a New York City co-op apartment previously owned by the late Yves Saint Laurent. The highly revered fashion designer’s New York Pied-à-Terre is about 600 square feet and listing for US$1.775 million.

Built in 1930, the 42-story Pierre Hotel is a mixed residential and hospitality building. It has around 77 co-op units and 190 hotel rooms and suites. Residents can enjoy five-star services that include personalised concierge services, 24-hour doormen, daily maid service, private in-room dining, full-time security, fitness and conference centers, on-site property management and valet parking. Within The Pierre itself is also the lovely French restaurant Perrine, a chauffeur-driven Jaguar XJL, the Rotunda banquet space and the Two E Bar & Lounge.

Saint Laurent bought the apartment in the 1970s with business partner and longtime partner Pierre Bergé. The pair, who co-founded the French fashion powerhouse Yves Saint Laurent in 1961, had two other units that were combined into one residence.

According to Mansion Global, the couple sold the larger residence for US$7.5 million in 2007 and kept the small unit as a pied-à-terre for future travels to New York. The larger unit has been a favourite amongst designers, and one of its past owners was Giancarlo Giammetti, co-founder of Valentino. Currently, the apartment is home to former creative director of Bottega Veneta, Tomas Maier.
