Hit NBC drama This Is Us season 6 has been given a January 2022 release date. The popular show first aired back in September 2016, with an ensemble cast that includes Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz and Sterling K. Brown, and follows the lives of two parents and their three kids across multiple years and time periods. The show has run for five seasons, achieving strong commercial and critical success, and scooping several awards, including Golden Globe and Emmy Awards for Brown.
This Is Us has been praised for its commitment to diversity, as well as strong storytelling and character development. And according to reports from EW, the show will see a sixth and final season of 18 episodes begin airing on January 4th. The multi-timeline tale of the Pearson family has captured the hearts and minds of Americans for years, and the highly anticipated This is Us season 6 will finally air after its longest hiatus so far, with the finale of season 5 airing back in May.
The entire core cast is expected to return for the last season, which will look to wrap up the various plot strands. It seems logical that the sixth season will pick up where the previous one left off, and creator Dan Fogelman has remained tight-lipped about how the show will end, simply choosing to tweet, “I’m very excited. I’m also incredibly sad. We’re pretty deep in and Season Six is turning me inside out. #ThisIsUs.” So, while it doesn’t appear fans will get much of an idea of how things will end ahead of time, it seems likely This Is Us will have a tearjerker ending.
