Halloween is approaching in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which means it’s time for players to revamp their islands in preparation for the holiday and all of the seasonal events that come with it. Fortunately, plenty of Animal Crossing fans in the community have devised creative design ideas to help provide inspiration. Here are a few spooky decorations that can take an island to the next level ahead of this October.
October 2021 will bring with it new DIY recipes, bugs, fish, and more starting on the first of the month, many of which will be Halloween-themed, such as clothing options available at the Able Sister’s shop and seasonal furniture items at Nook’s Cranny. Pumpkin growing, as introduced with last year’s fall Animal Crossing update, will also return with the changing of the seasons, as will the annual holiday event.
It’s unclear if more fall farming options will be introduced this year, as September’s Nintendo Direct hinted at a host of new content coming to New Horizons soon, with more information to be provided this October. These changes include the return of Brewster and the Roost, the introduction of which could add a whole new layer to fall celebrations in the latest Animal Crossing game, though it remains to be seen exactly what these updates could bring.
Animal Crossing’s Farming Update Makes Room For Pumpkin Patches
One of the most effective ways to make the most of autumn in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is to create a spooky pumpkin patch to mark the occasion. Animal Crossing player stephieacnh on Reddit makes use of fences, hay bales, and even the special character Wisp to create a Halloween-inspired shot of their pumpkin patch, complete with a seasonal archway.
Turn An Animal Housing Home Into A Haunted House
Those who don’t want to build something entirely new can always change up their New Horizons house instead, though. Tom Nook allows for plenty of customization once the house has been fully upgraded, and certain outdoor furniture items such as silos can be added surrounding the home to help add additional layers to it. Twitter user horrorcrossing does just that with the help of some eerie facades and a custom-made outfit from the Able Sisters.
Building A Spooky Halloween Graveyard In Animal Crossing
Black flowers, candles, and aged custom pathways can turn an empty area of the island into the perfect Halloween graveyard, as demonstrated by New Horizons player telulamay on Reddit. Players who make use of the costumes available in the tailor’s shop or create custom wearable designs can create a great opportunity for photoshoots in the graveyard, as well.
How To Make A Functional Corn Maze In New Horizons
Black flowers aren’t the only kind to start gathering up ahead of Halloween. It turns out that yellow hyacinths can turn any island entrance into a convoluted corn maze, especially given all the terraforming possibilities presented in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Reddit user gouldieee shows off a multi-level maze, accented with scarecrows and lanterns to help guide the way. Hay bales would make another perfect decoration, and it’s a great and interactive way to have fun with any friends who may be visiting the island this fall.
