The youth development charity Tall Ships Youth Trust has appointed Alastair Floyd as its next chief executive.
Floyd, who is head of philanthropy and partnerships at Guide Dogs, succeeds Richard Leaman, who stepped down last month after four years in the role.
The trust provides sailing training to disadvantaged or disabled young people through its four 72-foot yachts.
Floyd, who has been at Guide Dogs for three-and-a-half years, previously held senior roles at the National Museum of New Zealand and New Zealand Post. Prior to that he served in the Royal Air Force and the Royal Marines.
David Aisher, chair of the Tall Ships Youth Trust, said: “On behalf of all the trustees, staff and volunteers, we are very much looking forward to working with Alastair to further increase the work that the trust does in helping young people reach their full potential in life.”
Floyd will take up his new position on 18 October.
