WaterAid appoints new fundraising director

Charity

The water and sanitation charity WaterAid has appointed Jennie York as its next director of fundraising and communications.

York, who previously spent almost five years at the charity, latterly as leader of the direct marketing team, joins from Barnardo’s, where she has been director of fundraising for the past three years.

Before joining Barnardo’s, York spent two years at Save the Children UK, latterly as director of supporters and communities.

She will succeed Marcus Missen, who joined the disability charity Leonard Cheshire in June

York said she was excited to be returning to WaterAid.

“The organisation and its people have always held a special place in my heart and I am thrilled to be able to bring all I have learned from my time away back with me,” she said.

“I have been following the fantastic work and achievements of the fundraising and communications department for many years and believe with this strong team we can achieve even more, both nationally and globally.”

Tim Wainwright, chief executive of WaterAid, said: “Jennie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her range of experience in the not for profit sector, together with a strong collaborative leadership style, which will be vital as we continue our work towards a world where everyone everywhere has clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.”

York will join WaterAid in October.
