Third Sector Podcast: Cautiously optimistic? The state of the sector

Charity

In this episode of the Third Sector Podcast, features and analysis writer Rebecca Cooney and editor Emily Burt discuss where the sector is on the road to recovery.

Clearly the pandemic is not over and there’s every chance another lockdown or at least more restrictions could be in the UK’s future. But, as the world tentatively begins to open up again, there has been a number of intriguing news stories about how the sector is doing.

Rebecca and Emily look at the new guidance from the Fundraising Regulator and the Chartered Institute of Fundraising on how to fundraise responsibly now that restrictions have been lifted and the Wood For Trees State of the Sector report, which gave a positive assessment of fundraising income and recruitment over the past year.

They also chat about the news that Cancer Research UK has averted around 70 job losses and the charity shop volunteer recruitment drive that is currently underway.

And they discuss how small charities have coped over the past 18 months, based on Emily’s feature in the latest edition of Third Sector magazine, out now.
