Rodolfo Dordoni, creative director for Minotti

For those unfamiliar with Rodolfo Dordoni’s work, a quick way to get to know him is to discover his work for Minotti. You will be astounded by his clean, innovative designs and even be wowed by some of the detailing that goes into each piece.

Meeting The Master
From the legendary stable of elite Milanese designers is Rodolfo Dordoni, whose vast repertoire of design products – furniture, lighting and accessories – are famed for their elegance, essentiality and innovative details. Born in 1954 in Milan, Dordoni graduated with a degree in architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1979. From the start of his career, Dordoni has already made an impact charting the art direction and corporate identity for the who’s who in the high-end Italian design industry – Artemide, Cappellini, Fortana Arte, Foscarini, and Roda to name a few.

Best known for his work with Dolce & Gabbana, Dordoni since 1995 has been involved in all aspects of its image coordination starting from its headquarters in Milan to its showrooms and boutiques all over the world. In 2005, he founded Dordoni Architect Studios with architects Alessandro Acerbi and Luca Zaniboni, which focuses on residential and commercial architectural planning and interior design. Dordoni’s success could be attributed to his deep and traditional approach to the process of design and production which includes the development of image strategies, product concepts, design and development of product marketing. The result? Objects that emphasise structure, proportion and elegant functionality are the unmistakable signatures of Dordoni’s designs.

Dordoni took on the role of art director of Minotti in 1998. The relationship between Dordoni and the Minotti brothers, Renato and Roberto, is deeply rooted, and the trio shares the same aesthetic principles and creative style – blending tradition and technology to produce the finest “Made in Italy” products. One of Dordoni’s most unforgettable collection for Minotti was the 2010 collection dubbed “Senza Tempo”. His designs reinforce Minotti’s philosophy for quality and unique designs based on fine, Italian-made details. The exquisitely beautiful collection – comprising sofas, armchairs, tables, cabinets, and bookshelves – is sophisticated, versatile and evokes the hallmarks of durability, quality and ever-lasting comfort.

The 2019 Collection
The new collection coordinated by Rodolfo Dordoni with Minotti Studio brings new vision into living environments – where seating systems and other furniture pieces bring out the spatial aesthetics of the room while revealing intriguing geometries of curves and straight lines. Dordoni and his team endeavour to create furniture pieces that express a design narrative to be practical and dynamic, especially with today’s discerning homeowners. Dordoni also welcomes design greats who are well-known in their merits into the Minotti stable: Christophe Delcourt from France, Nendo from Japan and Marcio Kogan / studio mk27 from Brazil, and the début creations of Danish studio GamFratesi. Collectively, these talents have become part of the “Minotti project”; enhancing the new collection, thereby creating a renewed stylistic code to cater to international tastes.
