As a survival title Valheim only has so many endgame activities, which forced a talented player to invent another one by shooting a brilliant in-game commercial focusing on turnips. But while the final portion of the Valheim’s early access release is slightly less exciting gameplay-wise, developers sometimes give players additional reasons to invest their time in the game world.
Quite recently, Valheim devs from Iron Gate Studios asked the community to share the most impressive building projects that they’ve ever executed in the game. As expected, there was literally no hesitation as numerous players rushed to the comments to demonstrate their inventions. Most importantly, the majority of Valheim players’ submitted builds was worth admiring, as there even were authentic replicas of Game of Thrones’ Winterfell and The Lord of the Rings’ Edoras.
The endgame portion of Valheim is similar to the majority of other survival games in that players mostly have to entertain themselves. This is exactly what a talented gamer TheNarrator11 did, demonstrating an ingenious activity in a video on Reddit. After achieving all the major goals in the game the player decided to start making commercials, and the first one is dedicated to turnips. Although it might sound silly, the video (shown below) brilliantly describes Valheim’s turnips while advertising the fictional Homestead Farms - allegedly blessed by Freyr, the Norse god traditionally associated with harvesting crops.
The quality of the commercial is astonishing, and there’s actually a good reason for that. It turns out that the author previously worked as a professional voice actor, which he admitted in the comment section. The player still loves direct voice acting, and since it’s mostly a hobby now they decided to combine it with another leisure activity – playing Valheim. After meeting an overwhelmingly positive reception from the fan community, the author made a promising confession that a second Valheim commercial was already in the works.
Valheim player ingenuity is being put on display a lot recently. Not too long ago, one determined Viking survivalist dedicated the time needed to maximize their melee skill, ultimately turning their Valheim character into One Punch Man’s equal. True to the nature of the aforementioned anime hero, the player was able to kill every single boss in Valheim with a single punch.
Valheim is now at that point of popularity where the game is slowly outgrowing itself by going beyond the gameplay boundaries and turning into a pop-culture phenomenon. This is clearly demonstrated by yet another talented player who decided to apply their real-life skills to the survival title, resulting in a transmedia piece of art which can’t be directly viewed in the game but serves as an enticing ad for it (and for Valheim’s turnip farm possibilities) nonetheless.
Valheim is available on PC via Steam Early Access.
