Deputy chief executive one of two directors to leave the NCVO in restructure

Two directors at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations are set to leave as the umbrella body restructures amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The NCVO said Susan Cordingley, interim deputy chief executive and responsible for finance and services, and Megan Griffith Gray, interim director of strategy and transformation, who has been with the charity for 17 years, would both step down.

The moves are part of an ongoing restructure that will reduce the number of directors from three to two and lead to the likely loss of 22 of the organisation’s 107 roles

The third director, Sarah Vibert, has been appointed to the new role of director of membership and engagement after an interview process.

The NCVO has begun advertising for the other new director role, of finance and services.

The NCVO said Cordingley, who has been with the body since 2015, had intended to leave after helping to manage the transition to a new chief executive when Karl Wilding took up the role in November 2019, but agreed to stay on until the end of the restructuring process.

The charity said she felt it would be wrong for her to apply for one of the new director roles because she would be likely to leave in the medium term.

Griffith Gray, who has led the NCVO’s strategy review and subsequent restructure, and has held a number of roles within the organisation, will leave at the end of the financial year.

An NCVO spokesperson said the consultation on the job losses throughout the wider organisation was ongoing.
