Lady Gaga has been announced as the latest musical guest to join the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards lineup. Her appearance on the August 30 broadcast will mark her first VMAs performance since 2013, when she performed “Applause” from her album Artpop.
Gaga is up for nine nominations at the 2020 VMAs. She co-leads the field with her “Rain on Me” collaborator Ariana Grande.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the Weeknd, Roddy Ricch, Maluma, and CNCO will be joining the Video Music Awards bill. They also join previously announced performers BTS, Doja Cat, and J Balvin. All of the artists are set to give their performances from various outdoor locations throughout New York City; original plans to hold the ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn were scrapped earlier this month.
Lady Gaga’s most recent album Chromatica was released in June. In early August, she premiered the debut episode of her Apple Music show Gaga Radio, featuring an interview with frequent collaborator BloodPop®.
