Big Issue North sellers to return to work

Big Issue North vendors will begin resume selling issues of the magazine from Monday, the organisation has said.

Big Issue North, which produces a weekly magazine that vendors can buy for £1.50 and sell for £3, has been unavailable to street sellers during the lockdown period.

But the company said that from Monday, vendors would be able to resume selling the magazine at selected locations that meet social distancing regulations.

All vendors will be provided with hand sanitiser and PPE, including a visor, reusable face mask and gloves, Big Issue North said.

They will also be given contactless card payment machines so they can avoid having to handle cash.

The majority of the cost or provision of PPE and contactless payment technology has been made possible by donations from the public and other companies.

Big Issue North is a distinct publication to the Big Issue, which is not expected to resume sales through vendors until July.
