New fan art imagines what Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man could look like in Into the Spider-Verse 2. Maguire was the first cinematic Spider-Man, portraying Peter Parker in Sam Raimi’s original film trilogy from the 2000s. While multiple actors have suited up as the web head in the years since Spider-Man 3, Maguire’s iteration remains a fan-favorite – particularly among those who grew up with the first movies. There’s a reason why there was so much demand to have Maguire’s Spider-Man costume included in the Marvel’s Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4.
Maguire’s days of playing the superhero in live-action are behind him, with Tom Holland now firmly entrenched as a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Maguire could always reprise the role in an animated project. Such an opportunity nearly presented itself recently; the Into the Spider-Verse creative team considered a post-credits scene that would have united Maguire with Andrew Garfield’s and Holland’s version of Spider-Man, though Sony nixed the idea. But now that Into the Spider-Verse 2 is on the way, viewers are hopeful Maguire could show up in the sequel. One fan even imagined what he’d look like in this form.

As a followup to her piece of an older Miles Morales in Into the Spider-Verse 2, Camille Vialet uploaded an illustration of what Maguire’s Spider-Man could look like in the movie. Check out the post in the space below:
Earlier this year, producer Phil Lord teased big surprises in store for Into the Spider-Verse 2, leaving fans to speculate amongst themselves what those could be. Since the filmmakers already pitched a scene that brought the live-action Spider-Men together, that idea will likely be on the table for the sequel. Sony initially shot it down because it was deemed “too soon” to pull off a stunt like that, but now that Into the Spider-Verse is an established property with its own large fan base, the studio might be willing to have some more fun. Either way, if Maguire is part of Into the Spider-Verse 2, that’s probably something audiences won’t know until the movie comes out in 2022. A meeting of the Spider-Men is something better-served as a surprise for theaters.
As fans wait to see if Maguire appears in Into the Spider-Verse 2, this art does a great job visualizing what he might look like. Not only does the illustration accurately capture Maguire’s likeness, it’s also faithful to his distinct Spider-Man costume, as evidenced by the color scheme, Spider-Man logo, and webbed pattern. Most viewers would definitely like to see something resembling this in an Into the Spider-Verse 2, so hopefully it comes into fruition soon. Seeing Maguire interact with the other Spider-People (even for a brief moment) would be a treat.
