Selling Sunset Already Filmed Season 3. Here’s What We Know.

Style

In a time where few of us can leave our houses—or, at least, we shouldn’t—there’s something vaguely voyeuristic about touring the homes of the rich and famous, especially when said sparkling homes hide a lot of drama. Netflix, as it’s wont to do, has leaned into that appetite with the docu-soap series Selling Sunset, which feels like a mash-up of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and HGTV. The show hones in on Hollywood’s Oppenheim Group, an actual real estate group whose agents’ personal lives provide much of the show’s dramatic fodder. Sure, there are marble staircases and infinity pools galore, but most of what Netflix delivers is gossip, not tips for refinishing your basement.

For example: Agent Chrishell Stause is undergoing a divorce from This Is Us star Justin Hartley. Agent Christine Quinn is now married to wealthy retired software engineer Christian Richard. And agent Heather Rae Young is dating Tarek El Moussa, the HGTV star who recently underwent a very public divorce with his Flip or Flop co-star Christina Anstead. And that’s just the relationship drama. There’s plenty of work drama, too, especially with, y’know, millions of dollars on the table.

The feuds might seem trivial, but if you blink you might miss what’s so compelling about the show: These women are superstar salespeople. There’s a reason celebrity clients let them sniff out their dream mansions. They’re smart—and ruthless.

In a decidedly off-brand move, Netflix didn’t wait to announce a third season of Selling Sunset is already on the way. On the same day Season 2 dropped, the streaming platform announced Season 3’s release date. Here’s what to expect from the wildest real estate team on the Strip when they return.

Season 3 will debut before the end of summer.

Though season 2 wrapped in 2019, it seems the team continued production straight into season 3, meaning the next chapter will be available much sooner than originally anticipated. (Maybe they knew something we didn’t about all the wild events to come.) You can watch the next adventure for the Oppenheim Group on August 7 on Netflix.

The show will follow Stause’s pending divorce from Hartley…

As This Is Us continues to draw major attention, star Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin, stirred up his own drama when he filed for divorce in November 2019, a little over two years into his marriage to Strause. According to People, the actor cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, though an unnamed source mentioned the “differences” might have to do with children. (Strause seems to want them now; Hartley wants to wait.) Although such a decision is obviously a private, personal one, it looks as though Selling Sunset isn’t afraid to dive right in. If the season 2 finale was any indicator, the show promises to explore the divorce in further detail.

…and Quinn’s marriage to Richard.

The ceremony officially took place on December 15, 2019, but other than a few exclusive photos for People, you won’t find many images from Quinn’s big day online. That’s probably because Netflix filmed the whole thing for Selling Sunset, and you can bet they’re keeping the photos private until the season 3 debut. What can you look forward to? A “gothic winter wonderland” theme featuring a bride in black, her Selling Sunset co-stars, a fog machine, and a cake that “appeared to bleed” when cut. Dramatic!

There could be a spin-off series in the future.

El Moussa can’t appear on Selling Sunset due to contractual issues, but there’s plenty of chatter about him among Young and her co-stars. And the most interesting bit of news? The duo could be looking to do a show together soon.

Speaking to House Beautiful, Young said, “I’m learning through Tarek how to design homes, how to flip homes, how to knock down this wall to make it this…I would love to keep learning with Tarek, and he learns from me—my L.A. style. We would love to do a show together. It just has to be the right time.”

It’s hard to believe Netflix wouldn’t be interested after the success of both Selling Sunset and Flip or Flop. And who wouldn’t want to see multimillion-dollar homes undergoing multimillion-dollar demo days? In the meantime, we’ve got the forthcoming season 3 to keep us satisfied.
