Meghan Markle has been photographed for the first time since she and Prince Harry announced their intention to step back as senior members of the royal family, and she looked very at ease. The Duchess of Sussex was shot in Canada, boarding a seaplane at Victoria Harbour Airport to fly to Vancouver. She smiled at the camera, looking genuinely relaxed. She was bundled up in a green Barbour coat with a fur-trimmed hood, a black scarf, black skinny jeans, and tan Le Chameau boots. Daily Mail has the photos here.
The Meghan sighting comes after the Queen released a statement following Harry’s meeting with her, Prince Charles, and Prince William at Sandringham yesterday. The Queen said, “Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family. My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wishes to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family. Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”
Meghan did not dial into the meeting because she and Harry decided it was not necessary, outlets reported today. E! reported that Meghan has been keeping a low-profile in Canada these past couple days. “She mostly stays home but ventures out around mid-day just to get out,” a source said. The source added that Meghan had been seen driving around town.
