A woman who stole more than £95,000 from two charities she worked for has been ordered to pay back the money within the next three months.
Lindsay MacCallum, 61 and from Aberfoyle, Stirlingshire, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud in August after stealing a total of more than £95,000 from the cancer charity Rainbow Valley and the stem cell transplant charity Anthony Nolan.
She stole £85,978 from Rainbow Valley, a charity she co-founded alongside Angela MacVicar in 2012.
MacCallum was arrested shortly after her departure in 2022 and Rainbow Valley discovered financial irregularities relating to a bank account that she had controlled while working as the charity’s project development manager.
She also admitted to stealing £9,505 from Anthony Nolan, where she worked as a regional fundraiser in Scotland from 1995 to 2012.
Third Sector understands that MacCallum has already paid back £25,000 to Rainbow Valley in August 2022 but has not repaid any money since.
In November, MacCallum was given six months to pay, according to a court spokesperson, who said at the time that a confiscation order that would require funds to be repaid was agreed by the prosecution and defence.
The order included £9,505 in favour of Anthony Nolan and £60,978.48 in favour of Rainbow Valley.
At a hearing today at Falkirk Sheriff Court, an agreement was made that confiscation proceedings should be paused to give MacCallum until 5 March to repay the outstanding funds to charities, the court said.
According to BBC reports, advocate Sarah Loosemore said MacCallum had undertaken to repay the funds but required three months to liquidate the funds.
