The Last Dance Crosses 0M At The Worldwide Box Office

In a new milestone, Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance has waltzed past the four-century mark globally, now with $405.5M through Tuesday. Breaking that down, the Tom Hardy-starrer has grossed $118.5M domestically and $287M at the international box office since opening late last month. This brings the franchise total to $1.7B so far.

The Marvel symbiote threequel is currently the No. 8 movie of the year worldwide, and is coming off of its third straight weekend at the top of the domestic and offshore box office. Despite a lower-than-hoped-for North America opening across the October 25 frame, this $120M-budgeted Kelly Marcel-directed entry (which includes TSG as a co-financier for a third) ended up showing substantial domestic holds

Overseas, as was the case with the first Venom in 2018, the film is finding the bulk of its business. The offshore cume to date represents 71% of the worldwide gross. An unexpected assist has come from China — where the previous film, 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, did not release while the market was still choppy with Covid. Although China is down overall this year, Venom: The Last Dance is the No. 3 Hollywood title of 2024 there, behind Godzilla x Kong and Alien: Romulus. Through Tuesday, it has grossed $84.3M, making China the lead market on the movie. Local ticketing site Maoyan is predicting a $94M final.

All markets are in release, and those rounding out the Top 10 behind China are Mexico ($17.5M), the UK ($14.5M), Germany ($11.7M), Korea ($11.4M), France ($10.3M), Italy ($7.5M), Australia ($7.5M), Spain ($7.3M) and India ($7.3M).
