Comic Relief is the charity that people identify as seeing the most in the news, according to new data.
Third Sector’s Charity Brand Index 2024 shows that the proportion of people who agreed they see Comic Relief “in the news a lot” was 69 per cent, three percentage points higher than BBC Children in Need in second place.
Both charities receive a large amount of coverage on the BBC around their annual fundraising days and Comic Relief came top of the same list in the Charity Brand Index last year.
The overall Charity Brand Index ranks the UK’s leading 150 charity brands based on scores across a range of metrics including familiarity, distinctiveness and trust.
The 15th edition of the index, conducted by the market research company Harris Interactive, surveyed a representative sample of 4,000 people between 24 March and 4 April this year.
Cancer Research UK retained the top spot for the eighth year running.
The full Charity Brand Index includes tables covering in-depth survey data on publicity, individual giving, recognition and trust, as well as individual write-ups for all the top 150 charities.
