An equality charity has appointed one of the senior leaders at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations as its next chief.
Farrow will join the Kaleidoscope Trust in June after seven years at the NCVO, the past almost two years as director of influencing and engagement.
He succeeds Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, who left in November to become chief executive of UK Black Pride.
Opoku-Gyimah, who was executive director of the charity for five years, will remain involved with Kaleidoscope Trust as a patron.
Before joining the NCVO, Farrow spent five years working across the UN system and international agencies, mostly supporting governments to develop youth policies.
Kaleidoscope Trust described Farrow as an “experienced campaigner”, having worked with “hundreds of activists and civil society organisations around the world”.
Farrow said he had seen Kaleidoscope Trust become one of the “most important champions and supporters of LGBTI+ rights” over the past decade.
“I love my current role at NCVO, but the opportunity to serve my community in a different way, alongside the incredible work that the Kaleidoscope Trust and partner organisations have done, inspired me to apply,” he said.
“Right now, the situation for LGBTI+ rights is urgent and, in many places, hard-won freedoms are being rolled back.
“The scale of the challenge is undoubtedly huge, but I remain hopeful about the change that is possible – both through political influence and grassroots activism.
“My life is better because of those activists that came before me, and I’m humbled to be able to play a part in building a world where LGBTI+ people can be free, safe and equal everywhere.”

“He has consistently advocated that we speak truth to power, challenge misconceptions and stand firmly on the side of fairness and equity.
“I know with his experience, generous leadership style and personal values, Kaleidoscope Trust will go from strength to strength with Alex at the helm.”
Jesse Sperling has been interim executive director at Kaleidoscope and will continue in that role until Farrow joins in June.
