The British Red Cross has appointed Clive MacTavish as its chief financial officer.

MacTavish, who joined the BRC in January as interim finance chief, was previously CFO at the development finance company British International Investment.

He succeeds Martin Halliwell, who left the BRC in December.

The British Red Cross is one of the UK’s biggest charities by annual income, raising funds of almost £440m in 2022.

The charity said MacTavish previously held roles at organisations such as the Financial Times, Dow Jones and the travel company Expedia.

He said: “Although I already feel very much a part of the British Red Cross, I’m delighted to be able to continue my work with an organisation that does so much to support those in crisis in the UK and around the world.

“It is a privilege to work with so many talented and passionate people, and I am committed to ensuring the organisation is in the best possible position to innovate and adapt as we respond to an ever-changing world.”

Mike Adamson, chief executive of the British Red Cross, said MacTavish had already made “a huge impression on everyone” at the charity.

“He is a dynamic leader that will help put us in the best possible position to meet the challenges of tomorrow so we can continue to be there for those that need us,” he said.
