Margot Robbie Channels ‘Day to Night’ Barbie For Seoul Premiere

Style

On Sunday, Margot Robbie walked the red carpet in Seoul to celebrate the premiere of Barbie and honor her character’s long history as a fashion icon. Specifically, she wore two Versace looks styled by Andrew Mukamal inspired by the 1985 “Day to Night” Barbie who was always ready to transition from her work life to her night life at any moment.

Her first look was composed of a bright pink skirt suit with white details. She carried several matching accessories, including a rhinestone covered chunky cell phone, a white fedora with a pink band, and a small pale pink Versace La Medusa purse. On her feet were super tall white heels with pink toes and stems.

For the next outfit, she threw on a glittering dress made of a crystal-covered bodice and a fluffy tiered skirt, also in pink, of course. She was carrying a La Medusa again, this time in hot pink. She wore the dress with open toe kitten heels.

Later, she covered the party dress with a vest made of sheer pink material and embroidered with flowers around the pockets. She left her long blonde hair down with a side part, and wore a natural makeup palette with a darker rose lip.

The movie is based on the famous dolls by Mattel and follows a Barbie as she leaves Barbieland to head to the real world. It seems she is in for a rude awakening. Directed by Greta Gerwig, the movie has a huge cast of celebrities, including Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, Dua Lipa, Hari Nef, Simu Liu, and Ncuti Gatwa. Gerwig also wrote the script for Barbie with her partner Noah Baumbach.

“It was something that was exciting so I had that terror,” Gerwig said of the process on Dua Lipa’s podcast in November. “There’s something about starting from that place where it’s like, well, anything’s possible.”
